Position Overview

The Lead Digital Press Operator is responsible for leading and providing guidance to the Digital Operators within production procedures and practices. The Lead should be responsible for all aspects of operating digital printing equipment and continuously meet/exceed productivity and quality standards and demonstrate this standard amongst the team. Daily activity will include material handling and finishing as assigned. At a Lead level, the operator will act as a resource to Operators and Sr Operators, and lead in trouble shooting. May assist in training others and operate multiple machines. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Operate digital print equipment and the software necessary for print operations.
  • Complete jobs according to customer specifications in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor production output throughout the run for quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal printing conditions.
  • Ensures materials for the job are in stock and available for production.
  • Properly document production information to account for all labor and materials consumed on a job.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Properly execute pressroom Safety Procedures
  • Act as a resource to Apprentice and Feeder
  • Train Operators and Sr Operators as needed
  • Participate in creating any new documents including work instructions, standard operating procedures, and training materials.
  • Work with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) on solutions and resolutions to any issues with equipment or auxiliary equipment.
  • Provide feedback or participate in solutions to further the development of equipment and personnel.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Mandatory Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Mac and Windows operating systems.
  • 5+ years work experience on the same or functionally similar press.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous print industry experience.
  • Experience using an ERP system
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand oral/written instructions proficiently.
  • Ability to read and understand tape measure and other measuring equipment.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions.
  • Reliability through attendance, punctuality, and attention to workstation.
  • Demonstrate a positive safety attitude.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive work.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and stooping.

  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to visually inspect all work for defects and distinguish color.

Pay Range

USD $31.00 - USD $39.00 /Hr.

Pay Statement

The national pay range for this role is listed above. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
