Position Overview

The Studio Production Artist will be responsible for providing art production support directly to our Studio CAD Structural Design team. These responsibilities include creating adaptive creative layouts, color, content, image, and pre-press adjustments, file conversions, imposition, and other digital asset/file manipulations. Duties will include support and output of printed packaging, display, and signage prototypes, assembly instruction sheets, presentations, and other graphic design needs within the Studio team. The production artist works primarily on-site within the Studio team and is foundational to a successful and efficient workflow process to ensure prototyping projects meet internal stakeholder and client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Support Structural Design Engineers in preparing and outputting artwork/die lines for dimensional mock-ups of POP displays and packaging (folding cartons) for various CNC cutters, color printers, and materials.
  • Prepare/modify/supplement/adapt client art for optimized rapid prototyping as requested.
  • Work collaboratively with creative design team members to facilitate rapid ideation, creative problem-solving, and iterative prototype development.
  • Organize, archive, and retrieve digital assets within file systems, implementing naming conventions and version control.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any artwork issues that may arise during the prototyping production process. 
  • Collaborate with Structural Designers to provide graphic design, renderings, typography, formatting, and workflow efficiencies to support the creation of unique, client-branded assembly instruction sheets.
  • Coordinate and collaboratively prioritize projects to meet daily deadlines.
  • Partner with Structural Designers, Creative, and Account Managers to ensure projects meet expectations as efficiently as possible.
  • Participate in and adhere to the implementation of process improvements, including data collection, standardized procedures, automation tools, and technology updates.
  • Develop familiarity and expertise in the proper use of internal systems, software, and hardware, as well as preventative maintenance and upkeep procedures for shared Studio resources.
  • Track time spent on projects, meetings, and communications, including when the scope of the work exceeds the timeframe
  • Create and maintain detailed procedural, instructional, and technical documentation as required.
  • Stay informed about current and upcoming graphic design-related software, hardware, and techniques.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, industrial design, or a relevant discipline
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience
• Highly proficient in design applications (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)
• Demonstrated advanced technical digital pre-press, design, and graphics layout experience

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Graphic Design and Art Layout preparation
• Commercial printing industry
• Development of material used in Packaging and POP retail environments
• Works well under pressure in a highly collaborative and deadline-driven environment.
• Comfortable multi-tasking and coordinating several projects simultaneously
• Highly organized, able to work independently, and within a team environment.
• Meticulousness in checking and adjusting artwork to ensure precision and accuracy
• Willing to broaden expertise in design and production while refining proficiency in primary abilities.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• Image/color manipulation and retouching
• 3D modeling and rendering (e.g., SolidWorks)
• Familiarity/hands-on experience in ArtiosCAD
• Copy editing, Typography, and Font management

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Occasional standing and walking
• Manual dexterity for detailed and repetitive work
• Ability to distinguish colors for technical art reproduction
• Frequent sitting for prolonged periods, working with computers
• Chemicals: Inks, solvents, and adhesives
• Ability to lift, push, and pull
• Ability to work on-site to manage and output large-format, printed graphics

Pay Range

USD $30.00 - USD $35.00 /Hr.

Pay Statement

The national pay range for this role is listed above. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
